Academics

Marketing and Management(General, HR) majors can fulfill one elective in their major, plus a COB/UL elective. International Business majors/minors can fulfill three electives in their major/minor. Entrepreneurship students can fulfill their experiential elective(if they take MKT class). For all majors, these courses count as COB or UL electives and fulfill your Global Issues requirement. Talk with your advisor about how these courses would count in your program of study.
MGT 3045 International Human Resource Management Seminar Abroad

Learning Goals: This course is designed to develop an understanding of
cultural differences and aspects of human resource management in an international arena. Students will Identify the differences between domestic and international human resource management, Understand unique challenges of managing international human resources across cultures, Understand cross cultural differences affect recruitment and selection, Propose ways to enhance the performance of international assignees, among other skills.


PRE-REQUISITE:  54 earned hours

 

Credits: 3sh. This course is a General Management & HR elective and an IB elective and can fulfill COB or UL elective credit and the Global Issues requirement.

MKT 3540 Product Development & International Brand Management

Learning Goals: Essentially a product is first developed and then branded before it can be marketed. Hence, the objective of this course is first to make sure that you have an understanding of the new product development process and then introduce you to the basics of branding and brand management.
The new product development portion of this course will expose you to the unique challenges of marketing a new product and will include topics like idea generation, understanding customer needs, positioning the product, test-marketing and the final launch.
The branding portion of the syllabus focuses on building and sustaining a brand. Ideally, when you think of the brands you love – you should, after this course, have an understanding of why you feel about the brand the way you do.

PRE-REQUISITE:   MKT 3050 Introduction to Marketing and 54 earned hours.

 

Credits: 3sh. This course is MKT elective and can fulfill the Advanced Entrepreneurship experiential elective, Innovation and Entrepreneurship minor or major experiential elective, or the Innovation and Entrepreneurial Studies Minor Elective.  It can also fulfill COB or UL elective credit  and the Global Issues requirement.

BUS 3045 Intro to French Culture for Business Students

Learning Goals:  The purpose of the course is to provide ASU students with an introduction to the French language and culture and prepare them for the intercultural adjustment they will experience studying abroad by guiding reflection on culture before participation in the overseas portion of the program. The on-site orientation will expose students to cultural sites in Angers, orient them to the city and connect them with people and resources at the University of Angers. The guided experience in Paris will give students an introduction to France and French culture and prepare them for personal travel.

Credits: 3 sh. ​ This course fulfills 3 sh of IB electives and can fulfill COB or UL elective credit and the Global Issues requirement.
